Job Overview:

The successful Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant works with the Meridian Partners team to determine data requirements and provide creative, data-driven visualization and solutions to support the strategic business decision-making, reporting, and marketing activities of public sector clients. They will develop complex dashboards and reports utilizing Microsoft Power BI, create processes and database structures, and manage and maintain business data for reporting and intelligence purposes. The successful BI Consultant will ideally have come from a multi-tool environment where they have created models from scratch, preferably using dimensions. This individual works closely with IT, Operations, and other departments at the client to support organization-wide BI initiatives and related projects and teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide budget application and design guidance
  • Work with team members to identify data requirements and satisfy Business Intelligence (BI) needs
  • Identify opportunities to integrate business data with that of other departments to provide new insights and information
  • Collaborate with commercial staff and IT on streamlining and automating data-related intra-departmental business processes
  • Generate standard and ad-hoc analysis from business, operational, financial, or economic data for use in business presentations and marketing material
  • Establish processes and create database structures for collection and secure storage of data with a high level of data quality, consistency, and integrity
  • Create, modify, and maintain reports, dashboards, visualizations, and other BI tools to support business decision-making
  • Write documentation for BI tools produced and provide user support as necessary
  • Perform ad-hoc queries and reporting from databases
  • Manage the creation, compilation, modification, maintenance, and updates of data sets used by the department

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in all technical and functional aspects of solution design, development, and deployment of EPM solutions
  • Strong understanding of Finance business processes, including forecasting and budgeting cycles, and corporate reporting requirements
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills with experience in troubleshooting issues with EPM tools
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think in a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically, act tactically, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Able to build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • 4+ years of experience using BI tools, EPM software, and Excel
  • 4+ years of relevant experience developing advanced production dashboards in Tableau
  • 4+ years of Modeling (using dimensions a strong plus)
  • 4+ years of experience writing and debugging advanced SQL queries (ETL, Data Modeling, Data Mining, etc.) with large-scale, complex data sets in a business setting
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

Recommended:

  • Experience coordinating with public sector teams to influence roadmap for enhanced business intelligence and EPM tools
  • 4+ Years of Public Sector experience
